Growing Forward Stewardship
Stewardship Plans are designed to help producers explore their environmental practices and to plan for operational improvements to further reduce their environmental impact. Stewardship Plans are needed to apply for the following programs:
- Integrated Crop Management
- Grazing & Winter Feeding Management
- Manure Management
With technical assistance from the County's Rural Extension Officer, producers develop work plans that identify actions they can take to address their greatest environmental risks and that when completed, will reduce or minimize their impact on the environment. These plans also highlight what the producers are doing well on their farms. Producers can then apply for funding for projects that will help them achieve the environmental goals they've identified.
The County's Rural Extension Officer is designated by Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development to provide technical support and assistance to producers submitting Stewardship Plan applications.
Stewardship Plans are targeted at Alberta taxpayers with a minimum of $10,000 gross farm income. Applicants must be registered with Growing Forward and must have an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP).
