Build a Fence

I want to build a fence, do I need a permit?

Residential Properties:

You do not need a permit if you are building a fence that is six (6.0) feet or less in height from the front of the house to the rear of the lot or three (3.0) feet or less from the front of the house to the front of the lot. Please note that if you are on a corner lot, a corner cut-off may be required to ensure site lines are maintained. If the fence is to exceed six (6.0) feet in the rear of the property or three (3.0) feet in the front a Development Permit is required. You do not need a building permit for a fence.

Non-Residential Properties:

You do require a Development Permit for construction of fencing. A "Development Permit Application" needs to be completed and submitted to the Planning Department, with a professional plot plan, and the application fee. Upon review of an application, further information may be requested prior to the application being processed. You do not need a building permit for a fence.
