Non-Profit Organization Resources

In addition to the grant funding offered by the County of Grande Prairie, there are several other Federal, Provincial and recreation-specific grant programs available for non-profit organizations. 

If your organization is seeking assistance with grant writing, volunteer recruitment or professional development, the County of Grande Prairie encourages you to connect with the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau. Organizations that are a member of the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau are considered favourable by County Council.

Resources for the sport community are available through the Grande Prairie Sport Council.

Grant Programs

The County of Grande Prairie offers four Recreation and Culture grant programs:

Operating Assistance Grant

The Operating Assistance Grant Program is closed. 

About the Operating Assistance Grants program:
The Operating Assistance Grant program provides funding assistance to local, non-profit organizations that provide recreational or cultural programming for County of Grande Prairie residents.  Applicants may apply for operating funds or capital [PDF - 111 KB] funds to a maximum of $5,000. If applying for capital funds, two quotes must be included with the application.

Intake: February/March annually
Deadline: April 1, 2017 (or next business day)
Fund distribution:  June

Please note that indoor ice arenas, halls, swimming pools and curling rinks located in the County of Grande Prairie receive annual operating funding as outlined in policy K4 [PDF - 589 KB].

 

Capital Assistance Grant

The County of Grande Prairie is now closed. 

Important Dates: 
October 31 - November 1, 2017: Applicant presentations to members of Council
Early December: Funding allocations approved by County Council at the Interim Budget
Mid-December: Applicants notified
January: Conditional Grant Agreements mailed to successful applicants
June: Funds distributed to successful applicant

About the Capital Assistance Grant program:
The Capital Assistance Grant program provides capital funding to non-profit organizations that own and/or operate facilities that provide recreational or cultural opportunities for County of Grande Prairie residents.  Applicants may apply for up to 50% of the total project cost, to a maximum of $50,000.00.

Intake: August/September annually
Deadline:  October 1, 2017 or the next business day
Fund distribution:  Late June

Please note, application to the Capital Assistance Grant is a two step process:
1. Complete a formal application.
2. Prepare and conduct an in person presentation to the Grants Deliberation Committee in early November.

Major Capital Grant

The County of Grande Prairie is now closed.

About the Major Capital Grant program:
The Major Capital Grant program provides support for projects being constructed or rehabilitated by non-profit organizations whose initiatives provide a recognizable benefit to County residents.  This grant program is for organizations that are requesting funding in excess of $50,000.00

Intake: August/September annually
Deadline:  October 1, 2017, or the next business day.
Fund distribution:  Late June

Please note, application to the Major Capital Grant is a two step process:

2. Prepare and conduct an in person presentation to the Grants Deliberation Committee in early November.

 

100th Anniversary Grant

About the 100th Anniversary Grant program:
The 100th Anniversary Grant program provides funding for communities within the County of Grande Prairie to celebrate/commemorate the 100th anniversary of the community.  Applicants may apply for funding to a maximum of $25,000.00. Applicants must submit request during the grant intake process prior to the celebration year (for example, if 100th anniversary celebration is happening in 2017, application must be submitted during the fall of 2016).

Intake: August/September annually.
Deadline: October 1, 2017, or the next business day.
Fund distribution:  Late June
