Edson Trail Historical Society

Centennial Celebration Committee

Planning has begun for a Centennial Celebration July 2011 of this infamous trail. We are looking for people interested in getting involved by helping with this major heritage event. Sub committees will be setup for: The Major Event; Homestead Rock; Displays; Story Telling and Trail Rides.

We are requesting an early response on the following:

  1. The Homestead Rock project requires families interested in honoring their parents or grandparents, bringing a field rock (about 15 – 18 lb) and a cheque for $100.00. A cairn will be built with the rocks and the money will go towards the cost of engraving and installation. The rocks need to be brought in this fall in order to be added to the cairn.
  2. With the Story Telling project, we are asking people to submit stories about the trail, told by your parents or grandparents or that you may have written. We require the stories to be in this fall or early winter, which will allow time for the stories to be compiled in a booklet in time for our celebration. They can be submitted on paper or on tape.

For more information on how to become involved or to submit rocks or stories call Committee Chairs below or join us at our next meeting on September 16th at 7 pm at the Grande Prairie Museum.
