Communities in Bloom
People, Plants and Pride - Growing Together
Communities in Bloom is much more than flowers. It is a Canadian, a non-profit organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation and the challenge of a national program.
The County of Grande Prairie has participated in Communities in Bloom since 2003.
Judging is conducted under the following eight categories:
- Tidiness
- Environmental awareness
- Community involvement
- Natural and Cultural Heritage Conservation
- Tree/Urban Forestry Management
- Landscaped areas
- Floral display
- Turf & groundcovers
Visit the Communities in Bloom official website at www.communitiesinbloom.ca for detailed information, and to see a list of winners from past years.
Communities in Bloom needs community involvement and participation to make it a success. The County is proud of gardeners and volunteer organizers who make this event happen. If you would like to be involved in your community, please contact Nora-Lee Gilkyson at 780-532-9727.
