Early Childhood Development Programs

The goal of the County of Grande Prairie Early Childhood Development Programs is to provide play-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment in which each child has the opportunity to develop to his/her potential socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and intellectually.

Playschool Programs

Playschool programs will be offered in Bezanson, Clairmont, Elmworth, La Glace, Valhalla and Whispering Ridge in the 2020-2021 school year.

To allow everyone an opportunity to apply for the limited spaces available, each playschool program will open online application.

Each application will be timestamped. Applications will open at 8:00 a.m. on the dates listed below.

Playschool program applications will be available on the following dates:

  • Whispering Ridge Playschool– June 9, 2020 
  • Clairmont Playschool– June 11, 2020 
  • Bezanson Playschool– June 11, 2020
  • La Glace Playschool– June 15, 2020
  • Elmworth Playschool– June 15, 2020
  • Valhalla Playschool– June 15, 2020     
                               

Parent and Tot Programs

For children 0-6 years old and their parents/ caregivers.  A drop-in style program where parents actively engage with their child in a fun, social environment that combines opportunities for free play, information sharing and structured play activities.  Provided at no charge through FCSS funding.

 Playschool Programs

All County of Grande Prairie Playschool programs are child-centered and focus on delivering developmentally appropriate programming for 4 year olds. Contact the specific program for information and options for 3 year olds at Clairmont and Whispering Ridge. Our Early Childhood Development staff are licensed to plan and deliver programs based on the needs, interests, and developmental stage of the children.
