In accordance with provincial law, as of March 1, 2012, permits are required for all fireworks displays.
The amended Bylaw focuses on public safety, as well as effectively enforcing complaints.
The new regulations for fireworks include a $100 annual fee for businesses to obtain a permit to sell, offer for sale and store fireworks for the purpose of selling. Although a consumer fireworks display permit is needed, the permit is free. Applications for Fireworks Display Permits must be made in person at the County Community Services Building. The application includes the name, address and signature of the person or persons applying for the permit.
