Cemetery Maintenance

As outlined in the Greenspace Maintenance Plan, cemeteries are mowed at a minimum of twice per year, beginning in July.

Emerson Trail Cemetery

Emerson Trail Cemetery is located on the Emerson Trail (Highway 672), 3.2 km south of Sexsmith.

Niches in New Columbarium now available for purchase!

A columbarium is a special structure designed to hold cremated remains. Cremated remains are first placed in an urn which is then stored in a niche in the columbarium. The columbarium was specially designed in the shape of a grain elevator to acknowledge the County’s deep agricultural roots and peacefulness surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The columbarium has 36 niches in total which each hold two urns.

Cost per niche: $1,250

Opening fee: $250 per the placement of a second urn in a reserved niche.

Inscription of name and date on niche door: $220


Plots and Internments

Cemetery Plot: $300 (includes a $100 one-time maintenance fee)
Cremation Placement (existing plot): $200 (includes a $100 one-time maintenance fee)

Payment can be made in-person at the County's Administration Building  (10001 84 Ave, Clairmont) or Community Services Building (10808 100 Ave, Clairmont), or the County can mail the purchaser an invoice.
