Addressing

Well-maintained addresses that are visible from the roadway ensure that emergency responders can quickly locate addresses and respond to emergencies. Proper addressing supports public safety.

Under the County’s Community Standards Bylaw [PDF - 406 KB], homeowners or home occupants are responsible for displaying an address. Addresses must be correct, clearly displayed so it’s visible from the roadway, and maintained.

  • If a property is 0 – 15 metres (0 – 49.2 feet) from the roadway, your address must be at least 10 cm (4 inches) tall.
  • If a property is 15 – 20 metres (49.2 – 65.6 feet) from the roadway, your address must be at least 15 cm (6 inches) tall.
  • If a property is more than 20 metres (65.7 feet) from the roadway, your address must be at least 20 cm (8 inches) tall.
