Does my grain bag have to be rolled?

Yes, grain bags must be rolled tightly and tied securely with twine.

What if I bring my grain bag unrolled?

You have the option to take the bags back and roll them. Grain bags that aren’t acceptable for recycling are subject to double tipping fees at the landfill.

Do my grain bags need to be clean?

Yes, please shake off as much organic material (grain, spoilage, dirt etc.) as possible.

What if I don’t have a baler?

Alberta producers can apply for up to 50 per cent funding towards the purchase of a grain bag roller or a compactor under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) program.

Can I drop off my rolled grain bags at any time?

Please call the Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management ahead of time at 780-567-4194 to ensure there are staff available to assist with unloading.

I feed silage. Can I bring in silage bags and tarps?

No, not currently.

Can I bring in my hay bags?

No, not currently.

Where can I pick up twine recycling bags?

Bags are available at the Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management.

Should I knot the twine before placing it in the collection bag?

No, knotted twine isn’t accepted for recycling.

My twine has hay attached to it; can it be recycled?

No, twine must be clean and free of debris. Twine that isn’t acceptable for recycling is subject to double tipping fees at the landfill.

My twine is in a black plastic bag or a tote, can I bring it to be recycled?

Yes, but the twine will be inspected prior to being accepted.

No, not currently.
