The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is a policy to guide the evaluation of all proposals for land use, development and subdivision throughout the County. It is vital to decision making that all proposals be given complete evaluations to determine the implications of the development on the community.

This document is important to establish the vision for the future of the County, and the plan to make it a reality. The policies within the plan set the framework for what is and is not allowed when subdividing or developing in the County.

Municipalities with a population over 3,500 must adopt a Municipal Development Plan. The plan must address the future land uses within the municipality.

The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) must be consistent with any Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) that covers the same areas of land in both plans.
