Emerson Trail Cemetery

The Parks and Recreation department manages the Emerson Trail Cemetery. It is located on Emerson Trail (Highway 672) between Range Roads 62 and 63.

Columbarium Niches

A columbarium is a special structure designed to hold cremated remains. Ours is shaped like a grain elevator. Cremated remains are placed in an urn, and then stored in a sealed niche.

• Each niche may contain a maximum of 2 cremations.
• Niche Purchase (includes opening and placement of 1 cremation) $1,250
• Second Opening $250
• Inscription of name and date on niche door $280 (Prices are subject to change as per Peace Country Memorials)

Plots and Burials

Each plot may contain a maximum of 1 casket plus 3 cremations. These fees do not include the cost of opening the plot with heavy equipment.

• Cemetery Plot Purchase $300 (includes $100 maintenance fee)
• Internment Marking (mandatory) $100 per placement

Hythe Cemetery

The Parks and Recreation department manages the Hythe Cemetery. It is located 0.8 km east of the hamlet of Hythe on Highway 43. 

• Cemetery Plot Purchase $300 (includes $100 maintenance fee)
• Internment Marking (mandatory) $100 per placement
  • Maximum of four urns per paid plot

Please ensure that a full burial plot is booked two or three days before the funeral to allow time to mark out the plot for excavation.

Cemetery Improvement Grant

The Cemetery Improvement Grant provides funding to local groups for improvements to cemeteries located within the County of Grande Prairie.
