Composting is simply a combination of yard debris (like grass clippings and fallen leaves) and kitchen scraps (such as fruit and vegetable spoils), separated from the waste stream and placed into an environment suitable for decomposition. Through composting, you can experience the benefits of this rich soil additive giving you healthier and greener lawns and gardens, and a cleaner environment too!.

Green cone digester

Green Cone Digester

Takes all types of kitchen waste - a food digester can handle all types of food waste including meat, bones, dairy, grains, processed and cooked foods.

Reduces your garbage - an easy and effective way to reduce kitchen and pet waste going to the curb.

Takes  dog waste - The Green Cone heats up enough to kill potential pathogens found in dog waste.  No cat litter or wood shavings.

Reduces use of chemical fertilizers - the material added to the Green Cone turns to liquid and enters surrounding gardens providing nutrients.

Helps the environment - Managing your organics in your backyard reduces the need for more trucks on the road and recycles nutrients back into the earth.

Row of solar panels
Solar Arrays at Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management

The Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management has been powered by solar energy since 2015. 72 solar array panels absorb sunlight and convert it into energy that is returned to the grid and credited to the County. This solution is innovative, energy efficient and cost-saving over the lifespan of the panels.
