Residents are invited to learn about composting at a hands-on workshop on Saturday, August 27, at the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management.

This free event will cover composting basics, including large- and small-scale composting for agricultural and household use, the do’s and don’ts of composting and other helpful tips. The workshop will feature guest speaker and experienced local composter, Rebekah, from Out to Lunch Farmstead.

Interested individuals are invited to learn more and register at Registration is required by Wednesday, August 24 as the workshop is limited to 30 participants.

All participants will receive a County-branded compost pail to use their new composting knowledge at home. The Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management will have a variety of composting systems on display during the event as a live example of organics in action. Participants can also purchase an Earth Machine composter or Green Cone food digester at cost.

The workshop will be held outdoors at the Recycling Discovery Site at the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management, the first right turn after the scale house. The event will be weather dependent.
