County of Grande Prairie Welcomes Lee Brachmann as New General Manager of Community Services
The County of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Brachmann, MA, as the new General Manager of Community Services. With nearly two decades of experience in policing, primarily in rural communities, Brachmann brings a strategic and community-focused approach to his new role.
Brachmann is recognized for his strong leadership skills, commitment to employee development, and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders. His extensive background includes strategic planning, change leadership, and resource stewardship, alongside a proven track record in emergency management and community engagement. He possesses a deep understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, which will be invaluable in navigating the diverse landscape of community services.
Joulia Whittleton, County Manager, emphasized the significance of this leadership position: “Community Services manages the delivery of essential services that enhance the quality of life for our residents. After a thorough recruitment process, we are excited to welcome Lee to our team. His wealth of experience in law enforcement, emergency management, and social services will be instrumental as we strive to meet the needs of our community.”
Prior to joining the County, Brachmann served in several leadership roles for the RCMP in Alberta, where he demonstrated his ability to foster positive relationships across various sectors. His qualifications include a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and several emergency management, leadership and law enforcement training courses equipping him with the tools necessary to address the diverse challenges facing our community.

In his role as General Manager of Community Services, Brachmann will oversee key departments, including Agriculture, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Library Services, Recreation and Culture, Regional Enforcement Services, and Regional Fire Service. He will also manage the County’s emergency and disaster services portfolio, including its involvement in the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP).
Brachmann will officially start his new role on November 12, 2024.
