Fourth Quarter Financial Summary – Administration presented the County of Grande Prairie’s financials for the last quarter of 2020 to Council, including year-to-date actual revenues and expenditures compared to approved budgets. Operating and capital budgets came in under estimations for 2020, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Administration reported that Council’s approval to defer payment of taxes until October 30 resulted in a cost of about $500,000. Administration is estimating between $1.5 and 2 million in 2020 tax revenue may be uncollectable. A full budget report, including all COVID-19 related expenses, will be provided during the spring budget deliberations.

Emergency Funding Requests from Community Groups – Council directed Administration to bring requests from community groups for emergency operational funding, due to COVID-19, to the upcoming Council Meetings for consideration. Council asked that community groups explore other potential sources of funding, including Provincial and Federal grants, and submit financial reports when making their request to Council.

Greenview Industrial Gateway Project – The Chief Administrative Officer, Denise Thompson, and Executive Director of Industrial Development, Kyle Reiling, for the M.D. of Greenview updated Council on the Greenview Industrial Gateway Project, previously the Tri-Municipal Industrial Partnership (TMIP). Council reiterated their continued support for the project.

Staff Introduction – Council welcomed Carol Gabriel as the new Director of Corporate Services. The new division provides a broad range of services including all matters related to Communications, Facilities Management, Information Systems, Legislative Services and Records and Information Management departments.

The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on March 25, 2021. The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on February 22, 2021.
