Due to improving conditions surrounding the Bearhole Lake wildfire, the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) Emergency Coordination Centre is no longer activated.  GPREP is ready for re-activation should conditions change or another emergency requires support and coordination.

B.C. Wildfire Service continues to manage the Bearhole Lake wildfire, located near the community of Kelly Lake in British Columbia.

While the fire remains classified as out of control, crews have successfully maintained containment lines and there remains no threat to County of Grande Prairie residents and property.

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will continue to monitor the situation and respond as necessary should conditions significantly change.

Please refer to B.C. Wildfire Service for further information and updates on this event.

Smoke is expected to remain in the region. Anyone with health concerns due to smoke should check the Alberta Health Services website for more information or call 811 for 24/7 health advice.

Residents are reminded that there is a fire restriction in place for the entire County, including the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley. Read more about this fire restriction on the County website.
