Asset Management Report on Graders The Committee received an informational report on the asset management of graders. Business Advisory Services is presenting a series of reports to the Committee on various categories of County assets. 

The report covered grader equipment lifecycles, capital and operating costs over the lifespan, utilization, fleet value and condition, and optimizing replacement for fiscal sustainability as analyzed by the County’s new asset management software. Discussion included how County processes are improved for more comprehensive and accurate analysis in the future.  

Community Wellness and Safety Grants The Committee referred to Administration the creation of a Community Wellness and Safety Grant stream and present the draft policy to Council at a future meeting following a recommendation from the Grande Prairie Recreation Board. The new grant would fund organizations and initiatives supporting crime prevention, community safety, emergency services, and wellness for County residents with the opportunity to support some applications that do not meet the current Recreation and Culture Grant criteria.  

Community Wellness and Safety is the sixth Strategic Theme identified by Council in the County’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. 

Advocacy EventThe Committee recommended to Council that the County of Grande Prairie participate in the Grande Prairie Regional Energy Summit on June 1 at the Petroleum Club in Calgary to support regional advocacy initiatives in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie and MD of Greenview.  

Review of Upcoming Agenda Items – The Committee reviewed topics scheduled for upcoming Committee of the Whole meetings, including the Public Engagement and Participation process and Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection on June 30.  

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on May 30, 2022. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on June 30, 2022
