Nomination period now open for the County of Grande Prairie’s 2025 municipal election

The County of Grande Prairie is now accepting nominations for candidates in the 2025 municipal election, which will take place on October 20, 2025.

Residents who are passionate about their community and interested in shaping the County’s future are encouraged to consider running for office. The County is made up of nine electoral divisions, each represented by one councillor who serves a four-year term and is elected by the citizens who live within their divisional boundaries. Candidates must submit their completed nomination forms before 12 p.m. (noon) on Nomination Day – Monday, September 22, 2025.

“The municipal election is a pivotal moment for community members to get involved, whether by running as a candidate or by staying informed and ready to vote,” says Joulia Whittleton, County Manager. “Council members have a large impact in that they set the direction for our communities.”

  • Nomination period: January 1 to noon on September 22, 2025
  • Election Day: October 20, 2025.
