Update #3: Evacuation alert removed for County residents affected by Kiskatinaw River Wildfire
Monday, June 30, 2025, 10:30 a.m. – The County of Grande Prairie has removed its Evacuation Alert for everyone located north of Township Road 714 to Township Road 734, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 131 due to wildfire.
The removal of this evacuation alert is based on recommendations from BC Wildfire, the primary agency in command of working to contain the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire.
Alberta Wildfire reports that the wildfire is estimated at 26,315 hectares and is located near the Alberta–British Columbia border.
Over the weekend, there was increased temperatures and gusty winds. Despite these conditions, the fire did not grow beyond the existing perimeter. While no perimeter growth occurred, more visible smoke was observed, particularly from areas within the burn.
Temperatures are expected to remain elevated, but the winds are forecast to ease, with further wildfire growth remaining unlikely. Hotspots along the perimeter are being extinguished to prevent any potential spread.
Alberta Wildfire is supporting BC Wildfire efforts as needed. The incident management team is also working closely with the County of Grande Prairie and the Peace River Regional District to ensure a coordinated regional response.
