Councillor Information Request Policy Updated — Council approved Policy F17 – Councillor Information Request as presented and directed administration to bring the policy back for review within six months. The approved policy reflects recent changes to the Municipal Government Act, specifically requiring Chief Administrative Officers (CAO) to provide information to an individual Councillor and, within 72 hours, to share the same information with all other members of Council.
County Boosts Support to Recruit and Retain Nurse Practitioners — Council approved Policy M13 – Physician Recruitment and Retention as presented. The policy was updated to expand eligibility to include nurse practitioners in an independent practice for a signing bonus of $10,000 within the County or $5,000 within the City of Grande Prairie.
GP Pet Pros Request for Road Access — Council received an update on the GP Pet Pros request for road access as information. Administration is currently in the process of drafting a development agreement to formalize the road construction project with GP Pet Pros, who will be covering the costs (estimated at $75,000).
Collection of Outstanding Receivables Policy Updated — Council approved Policy C13 – Collection of Outstanding Receivables as presented, to allow Administration to send outstanding accounts over two years old to a collection agency.
Youth Ambassador Policy Updated – Council approved Policy D21 – County Youth Ambassador as presented, to include more than one Youth Ambassador to represent the County of Grande Prairie.
Letter of Understanding — Council approved the Letter of Understanding between the County of Grande Prairie and the County of Grande Prairie Library Board as presented, as a part of their annual review, to reflect updated processes and improve clarity.
Northern Alberta Elected Leaders Membership — Council ratified the Northern Alberta Elected Leaders (NAEL) membership increase of 20 per cent, from $1,500 to $1,800. The NAEL is a collaborative group of elected officials: mayors, reeves, councillors, and chief administrative officers from approximately 40 municipalities across northwestern Alberta.
J.D.A. Sportsplex Security Camera System Replacement and Upgrade — Council approved $12,028 for Nustadia to proceed with the security camera upgrades at the J.D.A. Sportsplex.
Sponsorship Request — Council approved the following sponsorship requests:
- $500 for Saskatoon Lake Agricultural Society for the Cowboys & Cocktails event on November 29, 2025, at Saskatoon Lake Hall.
- $4,500 for Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region for the 2026 Hyperdrive Women in Business Summit on March 13-15, 2026, in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Sponsorship Request Deferred — Council deferred a sponsorship request of $5,000 for Grande Prairie Disc Golf Club for the Canadian Disc Golf National Championship. The request will be brought forward at the January 12, 2026, Council Meeting. The championship takes place on July 13-16, 2026, at Thrill Hill and South Bear in the City of Grande Prairie and Evergreen course in the County of Grande Prairie.
The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on November 10, 2025. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on December 1, 2025.
