We host year-round programs and events that focus on outdoor recreation and the environment. We want to help you be healthy, happy, and connected with nature.
We offer:
- Recreation Fee Assistance to ensure all residents have access to recreation opportunities.
- Recreation and Culture grants to help community organizations.
- Programs for families, youth, and adults.
Programs and Events
Bear Smart Workshop
Date: Thursday, May 28, 2026
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Location: Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum
Cost: $5 plus G.S.T.
Ages: Open to the public (all ages welcome)
The Bear Smart Workshop is an educational session designed to help residents safely coexist with bears by increasing awareness, knowledge, and preparedness.
Hosted in collaboration with Alberta Fish and Wildlife, this workshop will be led by a Fish and Wildlife Officer and will cover bear awareness, bear safety practices, and how to reduce human–bear conflicts. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn how to properly and safely use bear spray.
This workshop is ideal for residents who spend time outdoors, live near natural areas, or want to better understand bear behaviour and safety strategies.
