The goal of the County of Grande Prairie Early Childhood Development Programs is to provide play-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment in which each child has the opportunity to develop to their potential socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and intellectually.

Playschool Programs

2026 - 2027 Playschool applications are open. To register your application, please select the school of your choice.

County Playschool programs will be offered in the following communities:

• Bezanson - Monday & Wednesday PM

• Clairmont - Monday & Wednesday AM and PM -Tuesday & Thursday AM and PM

• Elmworth - Monday & Wednesday PM

• La Glace - Monday & Wednesday PM

• Valhalla - Tuesday & Thursday PM

• Whispering Ridge -Monday & Wednesday AM and PM -Tuesday & Thursday AM and PM

County of Grande Prairie Playschool programs are child-centered and focus on delivering developmentally appropriate programming for three and four-year-old’s. Children can start the program the month they turn three and must be potty trained.

Our Early Childhood Development staff are licensed to plan and deliver programs based on the needs, interests, and developmental stage of the children.

Parent and Tot Programs

For children 0-6 years old and their parents/ caregivers. A drop-in style program where parents actively engage with their child in a fun, social environment that combines opportunities for free play, information sharing and structured play activities. Provided at no charge through FCSS funding.
