County Regional Fire Service Recruiting Local Responders for Rural and Town Stations  

The County Regional Fire Service is seeking dedicated individuals from rural areas to join our team as paid response firefighters and medical first responders. Only those living within 15 kilometres of our stations in Bezanson, Hythe, La Glace, Teepee Creek, and the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley can apply 

As a paid responder, you will provide essential fire, rescue, and medical first response services in your community on a flexible, on-call basis. At no cost, the County’s Regional Fire Service offers compensation for emergency responses, station duties, and training, along with accredited professional training recognized across North America.

Previous firefighting experience is optional but not a requirement. However, applicants must meet the following criteria:  

  • Must reside within 15 kilometres of their community's fire station  

  • Be at least 18 years of age  

  • Hold a current Alberta Driver's License and provide a Driver Abstract demonstrating a safe driving record  

  • Possess a Grade 12 diploma  

  • Submit an RCMP Criminal Record Check  

  • Provide a doctor's letter confirming fitness for firefighting duties
