    County of Grande Prairie Releases 2024 Census Results   

    (County of Grande Prairie, Alberta) – The County of Grande Prairie has seen significant growth, with the 2024 census recording a population of 26,701 – reflecting a 26 per cent increase since the last municipal census in 2012. Collected with a strong response rate of over 95 per cent, the data highlights the County’s appeal as a vibrant community and an attractive place to live and work, with over 5,500 new residents joining since 2012.   

  • Fire Training Centre Open. Boost Preparedness for County & City of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview

    Regional Fire Training Centre Opened, Strengthening Firefighting Preparedness for County and City of Grande Prairie, and MD of Greenview  

    The County Regional Fire Service, in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie and Municipal District (MD) of Greenview, made a significant step in enhancing regional emergency preparedness with a state-of-the-art Fire Training Centre. The grand opening of the new facility took place at the County Dunes Fire Station yesterday, Wednesday, October 30, 2024. This project was also made possible through the support of our corporate sponsors, TC Energy and Pembina Pipeline Corporation.

    Cellular Upgrades at the County Community Services Building — Council approved a five-year rental contract for a new distributed antenna system (DAS) to enhance cellular service at the County Community Services Building. Council directed Administration to proceed with the procurement process of the equipment and that the project be included in the 2025 operational budget.

    October 18, 2024

    Television Installation Project Progressing at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital — The Committee received a progress update from the Hospital Foundation regarding installation of television services at the hospital. Council approved a ten-year $1 million commitment for a bedside engagement system to begin in 2020. To advance the project forward in November 2023, Council redirected those funds toward television services and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Foundation. To date, the County has provided $570,465, including $70,000 in 2024. The project, which is expected to be completed in March 2025, will see widescreen TVs installed in patient rooms and common areas, including individual TVs at each treatment chair in the Cancer Centre.

    The County of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Kyle Palfy as the new Superintendent of Regional Enforcement Services, effective October 21, 2024. With over 26 years of comprehensive policing experience, including 13 years in senior leadership roles with the Grande Prairie RCMP, Palfy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this critical position.

    Clairmont Municipal Police Service Multi-Year Financial Plan — The RCMP prepared a Municipal Police Service Multi-Year Financial Plan for the four Clairmont police positions (Corporal and three Constables). Council approved the signing of this Plan which will be in effect from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030.

With nearly 30 years of experience in public safety and health, Corinne brings a wealth of knowledge, including her recent role as the Government of Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Lead Investigator.
