City, County of Grande Prairie celebrating Earth Day on April 26

(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 27, 2025) – Join the City of Grande Prairie and County of Grande Prairie in celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 26 at the Montrose Cultural Centre in Teresa Sargent Hall from noon to 4 p.m.

This exciting family-friendly event is packed with interactive exhibits, educational opportunities and fun activities for all ages. Attendees will also have a chance to win one of two compact Jetson electric bikes.

Event highlights include:

  • A live hive experience offering a close-up look at the vital role of pollinators.
  • A GP Grows Seed Bar where residents can choose from 14 seed varieties to create their own customized gardens.
  • The "Electric Avenue" showcase featuring electric vehicles on the south concourse.
  •  Engaging hands-on activities, including demonstrations on sustainable living from local groups and organizations, themed cookie decorating, and face painting.

“Earth Day is a powerful reminder that small everyday choices can lead to a more sustainable future,” says City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “This event offers a fun and engaging way to learn how we can all contribute to a healthier planet.”

Reeve Bob Marshall invites all residents to join in celebrating Earth Day. "We encourage everyone to participate in our Earth Day event, featuring a variety of sustainable programs and initiatives. Together, through small but meaningful actions, we can create impactful, positive outcomes for the future of our environment and community."

To encourage sustainable transportation, the City of Grande Prairie is offering complimentary city-wide transit throughout the day.
