Teepee Creek Water System — Council directed Administration to decommission the existing water system in Teepee Creek. To do this, funding will be provided for the nine active water customers to have their own well and treatment unit installed for a total estimated cost of $650,000, including replacement and decommission. Administration will enter into agreements with the existing individual lot owners in exchange for funding their replacement water supply.
2026 Spring Wildfire Preparedness Measures — Administration brought forward a set of recommendations to help the County prepare for the spring wildfire season, which Council accepted. These measures include being ready to bring in additional staff if needed, with up to $212,882.45 allocated to help reduce response times. The plan also allows the County to retain helicopter resources for up to six days after a fire ban is lifted, in case conditions worsen and another ban is needed.
Financial Reserves and Levies Policy Updated — Council approved Policy C27 – Financial Reserves and Levies as presented and approved the transfer of $750,000 from the General Operating Reserve to the Environmental Emergency Response Reserve.
Hythe Memorial Arena Concrete Disposal — Council authorized the Hythe Athletic Association to offer the removed concrete slabs to the public “as is” for personal reuse, from the Hythe Memorial Arena parking lot for a two-week period following public notice in April 2026, subject to the public signing a Release of Liability/Assumption of Risk Waiver.
Any remaining slabs will be removed and disposed at the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management, as soon as operationally feasible in 2026, with disposal fees waived, at a cost up to $28,622.
Fourth Quarter Capital Reports — Council approved the capital projects overages of $106,773.
West Clairmont Area Structure Plan Deferred — Council deferred the West Clairmont Area Structure Plan (ASP) Update and Expansion project and directed Administration to cancel the Request for Proposal.
Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum — The County will re-apply for the Alberta Community Partnership grant with the Town of Wembley for the Phase 2 of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum Business Plan Study in the fall of 2026 and will pause any further work on Phase 2 until a decision on the grant is received in March 2027.
Maskwa Medical Facility Lending Bylaw — Council gave first reading to Bylaw #3280 – Amendment to Bylaw #3232 - Maskwa Medical Facility Lending Bylaw.
Maskwa Medical Center Construction Committee — Council appointed Councillors Brian Peterson and Brian Grant to the Maskwa Medical Center Construction Committee for the duration of the project.
Wapiti Bridge Trail Connector Funding Request — Council directed Administration to bring back alternative options for paving for the Wapiti Trail Connector project to a future Council Meeting.
Provincial Legislation Bill 28 Update — Council directed Administration to look into Bill 28 and subsequent regulations, and the revisions to County Policies and Bylaws and bring them back to a future Committee of the Whole Meeting.
High School Grad Grant Program — Council directed Administration to develop a Grant Program for High School Grad Planning Committees, with recognition for the amount of County students attending and bring back findings to a future Council meeting.
Road Closures
- Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw #3265 — Road Closure of a Portion of Undeveloped Road Allowance Lying West of Pt. SW-31-74-5-W6 (C. of T. 232206372) Bylaw.
- Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw #3270 — Road Closure of Portions of Road Plan 4351EO lying south of NE-29-72-10-W6 and Portions of Road Plan 242 0932 lying within SE-29-72-10-W6 Bylaw.
Public Hearings:
- Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-017 to redesignate 6.88 hectares of land located approximately west of Range Road 54 and north of Township Road 744, approximately six miles north of the Town of Sexsmith, from the Agricultural (AG) District to a Country Residential (CR-5) District.
- Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-015, to redesignate the properties in the Hamlet of Hythe as follows:
- Restricted Residential (R-1) Districts to Rural Residential (RR-2) District.
- Residential-General (R-G) Districts to Rural Residential Mixed (RR-4) District.
- Manufactured Home Subdivision (MHS) Districts to Manufactured Home Community (MHC) District.
- Primary Commercial (C-1) Districts to General Commercial (GC) District.
- Commercial (C-2) Districts to Comprehensive Commercial (CC) District.
- General Industrial (M-1) Districts to Rural Medium Industrial (RM-2) District.
- Institutional (I) Districts to Limited Institutional and Recreation (L-IR) District.
- Agricultural (Ag) District to Urban Reserve (UR) District.
- Pt. NE-13-73-11-W6; Plan 0120240; ; Lot A2 from Urban Reserve (UR) to Country Residential (CR-5) District.

Sponsorship Requests — Council approved a $250 sponsorship for the Peace Wapiti Academy Grad Parent Organizing Committee for the Peace Wapiti Academy 2026 Graduation.
The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on May 4, 2026. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on May 7, 2026.
