Clairmont Municipal Police Service Multi-Year Financial Plan — Council provided approval in principle for the Municipal Police Service Multi-Year Financial Plan (MYFP) as prepared by the RCMP for the Hamlet of Clairmont. This five-year plan, spanning April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031, formalizes the agreement for municipal policing with respond to the proposed budget and approved personnel. 

Support for Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum Council directed Administration to hire a consultant for $30,000 to lead the first phase of strategic planning for the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum. In addition, Council also directed Administration to prepare an Alberta Community Partnership grant application, co-applying for the grant with the Town of Wembley to develop a business case and investment strategy for the museum.  

Professional Rural Recruitment Incentive — Council approved the Professional Rural Recruitment Incentive applications for the following, effective August 1, 2025: 

  • Dr. Candance Khun, $10,000 to support their full-time medical practice in Beaverlodge. 

  • Dr. Erema Aimola, $5,000 to support their full-time equivalent position at the IDOF Medical Centre. 

  • Dr. Marlize Hipwell, $5,000 to support their 0.7 full-time equivalent position at the Family Medical Associates Clinic and emergency and community obstetrics. 

Repairs to Hythe Sidewalk Approved Council approved $90,000 in funding to fix the sidewalk along 104 Avenue, north of 100 Street in the Hamlet of Hythe. The sidewalk, located in front of the Pioneer Home, is lower than the adjacent roadway. Repairs will be completed before winter to reduce slippery and wet conditions. 

Pound Services Agreement Council agreed to enter into a Regional Pound Services agreement with the Municipal District of Greenview from July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027.  

Peace Area Motor Sports Association Drainage Update — Council approved carrying forward $100,000 in 2025 Capital Grant funding for the Peace Area Motor Sports Association’s paving project. Release of County funds is contingent on the Association addressing infield drainage issues and providing confirmation of funding to cover the remainder of the project. 

Tax Assessment Bylaw for Manufactured Homes and Communities Council approved first reading of Bylaw 3259 – Assessment of Designated Manufactured Homes in a Manufactured Home Community. Council also directed Administration to advertise the new bylaw within manufactured home communities and contact park owners, and bring back feedback to a future Council meeting. 

Sewer Upgrade Council directed Administration to engage Triton Plumbing and Heating to complete sewer upgrades to support the subdivision of the farmstead from Pt. NE-22-72-6-W6, located along Range Road 62, south of Township Road 724. 

2025 Tax Sale Date Council approved October 15, 2025, as the annual Tax Sale Date. 

Funds for Road Project Reallocated Council directed Administration to revise the approved 2025 Capital Plan by reallocating funding to grade approximately 3.5 kilometers of Township Road 710, from Range Road 73 north to Range Road 75A, to the Range Road 74 base paving project, from 1.6 kilometres north of Highway 43 to 3.2 kilometres north of Highway 43. 

Road Construction Request Approved — Council directed Administration to construct a standard rural road with four approaches for the undeveloped portion of Township Road 711A, west of Range Road 64.  

Public Hearings: 

  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw 2680-25-027 to redesignate 0.8 hectares of land located approximately 6.94 miles northwest of Clairmont, adjacent to Range Road 74 to the east and Township Road 734 to the south boundary, from the County Residential (CR-5) District to the Agricultural (AG) District. The change will consolidate the lot with the balance of quarter section and later subdivide out a farmstead.  

  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw 2680-25-025 to redesignate 6.99 hectares of land located east of Range Road 51 and south of Highway 674, approximately 5.3 miles northeast of the Town of Sexsmith, from the Agricultural (AG) District to the County Residential (CR-5) District. The rezoning will to allow two residential lots to be subdivided in the future.  

  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw 2680-25-024 to rezone 4.9 hectares of land located east of Range Road 54 and north of Township Road 730 within the Hamlet of Clairmont, from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Country Residential (CR-5) District. The rezoning will allow the land to be divided for future residential use. 

  • Council recessed the Public Hearing of Bylaw 2680-25-026 to the Regular Council meeting on September 8, 2025. The bylaw would rezone 4.05 hectares of land located west of Range Road 44 and north of Highway 43, approximately 3.3 miles west of the Hamlet of Bezanson, from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Highway Industrial (RM-4) District to facilitate future industrial subdivision and development. 

Sponsorship Requests — Council approved the following sponsorship requests: 

  • $500 to the Beaverlodge Area Cultural Society for an Alberta Culture Days event. 

  • $1,250 table sponsorship to the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention for the 15th Annual Chair Extraordinaire. 

  • $1,000 to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54 in Grande Prairie for the First Responders Day. 

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on August 25, 2025. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on August 21, 2025
