Celebrate, explore and grow together at the City and County of Grande Prairie Earth Day event on April 25
(Grande Prairie, Alta. – March 30, 2026) – Spring into action and join the City and County of Grande Prairie for a family-friendly Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Bowes at Bonnetts Energy Centre.
This free community event brings people together to celebrate the environment and discover simple ways to reduce our impact. Attendees can also enter to win one of two compact Jetson electric bikes, each valued at $700 and including a lock and helmet.
At the event, attendees can explore hands-on activities and interactive exhibits that highlight how small actions can make a difference, including:
- Planting a small pollinator or salad garden to take home in a re-usable starter tray filled with soil and seed mixes. The pollinator blend features native, climate-friendly flowers that support local bees and celebrates Grande Prairie’s Bee City designation.
- Exploring a live beehive to see how pollinators help plants thrive.
- Checking out electric vehicles, including an electric bus and golf cart.
- Enjoying free activities like face painting.
“Earth Day is a chance for all of us to celebrate the ways we can care for and enhance the place we call home,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “From growing your own garden to learning about local initiatives, this event brings people together to explore practical ways to make a positive impact. I encourage everyone to come out, have fun and discover how small actions can help our community grow greener and stronger together.”
“This exciting family-friendly event gives residents the opportunity to enjoy free activities while learning about the actions and steps we can take to protect the planet, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come,” says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Amanda McDonald.
The City of Grande Prairie is providing free city-wide transit on April 25, making it easy to get to the Bowes at Bonnetts Energy Centre while supporting efforts to reduce emissions.
