County and IAFF Ratify 2024-2025 Agreement

The County of Grande Prairie and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 5108 ratified a collective agreement, effective January 2024 to December 2025.

“These agreements reflect Council’s commitment to staying fiscally responsible while remaining a competitive employer,” says Reeve Amanda McDonald. “They support both our workforce and the residents we serve.

"Over the last several years, wildfire risk has been top of mind for the County. We are dedicated to reducing this risk, while
recruiting and retaining skilled firefighters to help keep our communities
safe.”

Highlights of the agreement include:  

• A wage increase of 3.85 per cent in 2024 and 3.5 per cent in 2025.
• Creation of a PPE and Uniform Committee.
• Addition of a lieutenant rank utilizing existing personnel, with lieutenants being able to step in when captains are away or unavailable to perform their duties. 

Council voted to approve the new agreement as presented during the Council meeting on June 22, 2026.
