County Launches New Grant Program to Support Local Business Growth Through Technology Infrastructure - Applications Open October 11, 2025

The County of Grande Prairie has launched a new Business Retention and Expansion Grant – Infrastructure Technology, aimed at supporting small- and medium-sized County businesses by helping them upgrade infrastructure-related technology to drive growth and innovation.

The grant provides a total of $26,000 in annual funding. Eligible businesses can apply for matching funding starting October 11, 2025, of up to $2,000 per year to assist with technology-related infrastructure improvements. Projects may include enhancements such as broadband upgrades, point-of-sale systems, industrial automation, and other critical digital tools. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis until the annual funding is fully allocated.

“This new program reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to offering effective programs that support local businesses and help them stay competitive in an increasingly digital economy,” says Reeve Bob Marshall. “We know that technology upgrades can be a major investment for small businesses. By offering targeted investment in infrastructure, we’re working to reduce barriers and promote long-term economic sustainability in the County."

The program, developed as a direct response to insights gathered through the County’s annual Business Retention and Expansion Surveys, is designed to be flexible and adaptive to the evolving needs of the business community.

“Our goal is to make it easier for businesses to grow and modernize, especially in rural areas where infrastructure challenges can be more pronounced,” says Jordan Tidey, Director of Economic Development. “This grant is a practical tool to help address those gaps while also reinforcing our role as a responsive and supportive partner to the local business community.”
