County of Grande Prairie Council Elect New Reeve, Deputy Reeve

County of Grande Prairie Council elected Division 1 Councillor Amanda McDonald as Reeve and Division 9 Councillor Bob Chrenek as Deputy Reeve at today’s organizational meeting. 

“I am deeply honoured to be chosen by my fellow Councillors to serve as Reeve,” says Amanda McDonald, who held the position of Deputy Reeve since October 2024. “They have expressed their confidence in me, and I will work diligently and collaboratively with them on behalf of the residents we represent.” 

“It is a privilege to assume the role of Deputy Reeve with this new Council,” says Bob Chrenek. “I am eager to join forces with them in advancing the interests of the County, strengthening what is working well and helping move our strategic priorities forward.” 

Reeve McDonald has served on County Council since 2021 as Councillor for Division 1. She replaces former Reeve Bob Marshall, who announced his retirement after 12 years of dedicated service ahead of the County’s 2025 Municipal Election in October. Deputy Reeve Chrenek was first elected to Council in 2021.  

County Council holds an organizational meeting every October to elect a Reeve and Deputy Reeve, and to appoint members of Council to committees.
