County of Grande Prairie Marks 75th Anniversary with Free Community Celebration 

The County of Grande Prairie will mark its 75th anniversary with a free, two-day community celebration at Evergreen Park on August 21 and 22, 2026, honouring generations of growth, resilience and community spirit. 

The weekend begins at noon on Friday, featuring live performances, family activities, a local market, and interactive experiences for all ages. The celebration reaches its grand finale on Saturday evening with Canadian country music star Brett Kissel, who takes the main stage at 9 p.m., followed by the Peace Region's first-ever drone light show. 

"For 75 years, the County of Grande Prairie has been built by the people who live, work and invest in our community," says Reeve Amanda McDonald. "This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate how far we've come, and look ahead to an exciting future. We invite everyone to join us for this special milestone and experience everything the event has to offer.” 

Visitors can enjoy performances by Generations Readers Theatre, local musicians and dancers; take wagon rides with the Peace Draft Horse Club presented by Pomeroy Lodging; and browse the Rooted in the County Market presented by Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP, featuring local producers, artisans and makers. 

Families will also enjoy plenty of activities, including the Touch-a-Tractor experience presented by Global Cellulose Fibers, car show, the Aquatera Family Fun Zone, roaming puppet entertainment, the CN Mini Train, MPA Engineering Ltd. Food Truck Alley, the opportunity to explore County equipment and fire trucks up close, and more. 

Activities resume at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Wild West Dirt Works free pancake breakfast, while supplies last, followed by a full day of programming leading into the evening concert and drone light show finale.
