2025 Citizen Satisfaction Survey Report — County of Grande Prairie residents continue to report high quality of life, strong feelings of safety, and a deep sense of community pride and connection, according to the County’s latest Citizen Satisfaction Survey. Kiskatinaw River Wildfire Report — The Committee directed Administration to continue lobbying the Provincial Government for legislative and procedural changes to better support agriculture producers during large scale wildfire events, including training, resources, updated emergency response plans for producers, and support for Fire Smart and fire guard activities on grazing leases.

The Committee directed Administration to work with Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) to review security and check in protocols for evacuations, create an information package for homes/businesses on structural protection work, expand the Livestock Emergency Plan to include pre‑registration orientations for priority permitting, and explore establishing an agricultural liaison role for future wildfire events.

2025 County Campground Report — The Committee received from Administration the 2025 County Campground report which highlighted current and future objectives, marketing initiatives, events, revenue, site attendance and improvements. 

Roadside Brushing Maintenance Program Update — Administration provided the Committee with an update on the Roadside Brushing Maintenance Program priorities in the west side of the County including intersections, paved roads, overgrown roads, and spraying operations. 

Draft Electricity Distribution Rates Resolution — The Committee approved bringing forward the Disparity in Electricity Distribution Rates resolution to the February 13, 2026, Zone 4, Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) meeting as presented.

Guardian Livestock Dogs — The Committee directed Administration to bring back information regarding microchipping guardian livestock dogs with GPS trackers, to a future Regular Council Meeting for review and consideration. Guardian livestock dogs are regulated under the County’s Animal Control Bylaw.

Artificial Intelligence Policy — The Committee directed Administration to bring the County’s policy on artificial intelligence usage to the March 22, 2026, Committee of the Whole Meeting for review and discussion.

On this date, Council also held a Special Council Meeting for the following public hearings:

  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-001 to redesignate 5.58 acres (2.26 hectares) within Pt. NW-22-72-6-W6 from the Country Residential (CR-4) District to the Rural Highway Industrial (RM-4) District.
  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-002 to redesignate 22.11 acres (8.95 hectares) within Pt. SW-30-71-10-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Country Residential (CR-5) District.
  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-003 to redesignate 29.70 acres (12.02 hectares) within Pt. NE-10-73-6-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Highway Industrial (RM-4) District.
  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-004 to redesignate 6.08 acres (2.46 hectares) within Pt. SW-26-72-9-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Country Residential (CR-5) District.
  • Council gave second reading to Bylaw #2680-26-005 to redesignate 10 acres (4.05 hectares) within Pt. SW-10-73-6-W6; Plan 222 0142; Block 1; Lot 1 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Rural Medium Industrial (RM-2) District.
  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-006 to redesignate 3.58 acres (1.45 hectares) within Pt. NW-13-73-11-W6 from the General Industrial (M-1) District to the Rural Industrial Direct Control (RM-DC) District.
  • Council gave final reading to Bylaw #2680-26-007 to amend Section 40 - Beaverlodge Airport Direct Control (BA-DC) District of the Land Use Bylaw #2680.
  • Council approved Development Permit PLDEV20250608 for Recreation Use, Intensive (including safety training and school programs), Airport, Campground (Temporary), Parking Lot (Temporary), Grandstand (Temporary), and Racing Events on Pt. NE-27-71-10-W6.
  • Council approved entering into a partnership with Horse Lake First Nation as a supporting municipal partner for the Growing Canada’s Community Canopies program, provided the First Nation is successful in receiving program funding.
  • Council directed Administration to provide a letter of support to Horse Lake First Nation for the application to the Growing Canada’s Community Canopies funding program.

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on February 23, 2026. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on March 26, 2026.
