Information Sessions Set for Prospective County Council Candidates

The County of Grande Prairie is offering information sessions for residents interested in running for County Council in the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election.

What:            Municipal Government 101

Date:             Wednesday, June 25

Time:             7 pm - 9 pm

Location:      Ovintiv Room at Evergreen Park

A second session will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at the same time and location. There is no need to register.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a member of Council,” says Carol Gabriel, Returning Officer. “Attendees will learn about the roles, responsibilities and time commitments involved with being a County Councillor, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions.”

Residents and potential candidates can stay updated on key dates and announcements by following the County’s official social media channels – Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

Key election dates:

• Nomination deadline: September 22, 2025 at noon
• Election Day: October 20, 2025
