January 23, 2026 

Economic Development Annual Review — Administration provided the Committee an overview of the Economic Development activities and progress achieved in 2025, including participation in conferences, current projects, and an outline of planned activities for 2026.

Memorandum of Agreement, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors — The Committee recommended to Council to direct Administration to forward the draft Memorandum of Agreement between Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and the County of Grande Prairie for the operation and maintenance of the underslung pedestrian bridge across the Wapiti River for a final review and completion.

Philip J. Dinosaur Museum Strategic Planning — The Committee directed Administration to develop a Request for Proposal for Phase 2 of the Business Plan Study, contingent upon securing Alberta Community Partnership grant funding, to develop a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the province’s strategies and improves revenue generation.

Municipal Development Plan Review — The Committee directed Administration to proceed with final circulation of the draft Municipal Development Plan prior to bringing it back to a future regular Council meeting for public hearing.

Municipal Land Management Strategy Update — The Committee received an information report from Administration on the data and findings collected regarding the County’s titled land interests, to support developing a Municipal Land Management Strategy.

2025 Recreation Programming Summary — Administration provided the Committee a general overview of recreation programs and events from 2025 and upcoming programs in 2026.

Grande Prairie Regional Agricultural and Exhibition Society (Evergreen Park) Annual Update — Representatives from the Society provided the Committee with information on their current operations, facility updates, and future events including the 40-year anniversary of the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show on March 12-14, 2026.

Community Futures Grande Prairie and Region Update — Community Futures Grande Prairie and Region representatives provided the Committee with an update on their activities within the region and their impact on the communities they serve.

Art Gallery of Grande Prairie Annual Report — Art Gallery representatives presented the Committee with their annual 2024/2025 report highlighting partnerships, exhibitions, and programming.

Grouard-McLennan Covenant Health Community Committee —
Representatives from the Grouard-McLennan Covenant Health Community Committee provided information to the Committee on their provincial proposal to develop a Covenant Wellness Community (CWC) in Grande Prairie.

Family and Community Support Services Policy — The Committee directed Administration to amend Policy G10 — Family and Community Support Services Grants as discussed and bring back the amended policy to a future regular Council meeting for review and consideration.

Event Permit Program — The Committee directed Administration to develop a policy for the Event Permit Program regarding public and private lands with the option to include any required fees on the Schedule of Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw and bring the draft policy to a future Committee of the Whole meeting for review and consideration.

Chief Administrative Officer Bylaw — The Committee recommended to Council to amend Bylaw # 3120 — Chief Administrative Officer Bylaw and bring it back to a future Regular Council Meeting for review and consideration.

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on January 26, 2026. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on February 12, 2026.
