Council Recognizes Employee Innovation Awards — Council congratulated County employees that were awarded the 2025 Innovation Awards. The annual internal program aims to foster a culture of innovation within the organization.

Staff Accommodation Space Needs Update — Council authorized Administration to use the existing budgeted project funds to complete additional workspace furniture updates.

Subdivision Access Requirements — Council directed Administration to enter into an agreement with Smoky Valley Aggregate for Provisional Roadway Reservation (RDS)/Registered Roadway (RRD) application and assist them with the provincial application process for road right of way and determine a long-term road maintenance agreement.

Council and Board Member Honoraria & Expense Reimbursement Policy — Council directed Administration to approve Policy F10 — Council and Board Member Honoraria and Expense Reimbursement as presented. 

Advertising Bylaw — Council directed Administration to bring back the Advertising Bylaw for review and discussion to a future Committee of the Whole meeting.

Procedural Bylaw Updated — Council gave third and final reading to Bylaw #3275 — Procedural Bylaw as presented.

Council Meeting Schedule Review — Council directed Administration to evaluate the operational impacts of scheduling Regular Council meetings on Tuesdays and Municipal Planning Commission on Mondays and that the operational impacts report be brought to a future Committee of the Whole meeting before August 2026.

Public Hearings:

  • Council gave first reading to Bylaw #3270 — Road Closure of Portions of Road Plan 4351EO and Portions of Road Plan 242 0932 and directed Administration to forward the Bylaw to the Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors for approval.

Council motioned to hold a Special Council meeting on February 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. for the following Bylaws:

  • Bylaw #2680-26-001 to redesignate 5.58 acres (2.26 hectares) within Pt. NW-22-72-6-W6 from the Country Residential (CR-4) District to the Rural Highway Industrial (RM-4) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-002 to redesignate 22.11 acres (8.95 hectares) within Pt. SW-30-71-10-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Country Residential (CR-5) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-003 to redesignate 29.70 acres (12.02 hectares) within Pt. NE-10-73-6-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Highway Industrial (RM-4) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-004 to redesignate 6.08 acres (2.46 hectares) within Pt. SW-26-72-9-W6 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Country Residential (CR-5) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-005 to redesignate 10 acres (4.05 hectares) within Pt. SW-10-73-6-W6; Plan 222 0142; Block 1; Lot 1 from the Agricultural (AG) District to the Rural Medium Industrial (RM-2) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-006 to redesignate 3.58 acres (1.45 hectares) within Pt. NW-13-73-11-W6 from the General Industrial (M-1) District to the Rural Industrial Direct Control (RM-DC) District.
  • Bylaw #2680-26-007 to amend Section 40 - Beaverlodge Airport Direct Control (BA-DC) District of the Land Use Bylaw #2680.

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on February 9, 2026. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on February 12, 2026.
