Lights, Camera, Action!  ‘It Takes a Volunteer’ Campaign Now Open

The ‘It Takes a Volunteer’ program is accepting nominations, recognizing the people and organizations who give back to the community. More than an appreciation initiative, the program supports volunteer-driven work by providing tools to help showcase impact and build awareness.

Nominees will be recognized during National Volunteer Week, April 19 to 25, 2026, and will receive an appreciation package in thanks for their contribution. All nominees are featured on the County’s Volunteer Wall of Fame and selected nominees will receive a professionally produced video highlighting their work and the organization they serve.

Videos can be used:

  • for grant applications, improving odds of being selected
  • on social media and websites, showcasing their work and marketing their programs
  • in annual reports, encouraging funders and donors to continue their support

“Volunteers are central to our communities. Their work supports neighbours, strengthens services, and shows what is possible when people step forward to help,” says Reeve Amanda McDonald. “The ‘It Takes a Volunteer’ program is one way the County helps elevate their contributions and empower the organizations they serve, while recognizing the value they bring to our region.”

Since launching in 2023, ‘It Takes a Volunteer’ has recognized 23 organizations and 33 individuals for their outstanding contributions. Nominations for 'It Takes a Volunteer' are open until March 2, 2026. For more information about the program and to submit nominations, visit www.countygp.ab.ca/volunteers
