Sections of Range Road 63 Scheduled for Temporary Closure During Construction

The County of Grande Prairie is advising residents of an upcoming road construction project that will result in multiple closures and traffic impacts along Range Road 63 from Highway 43 to Highway 672 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025. The project, which had previously been delayed, is expected to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

This roadwork is part of the County’s annual Surfaced Road Rehabilitation program and represents over $4.8 million dollars in capital investment toward the County’s strategic goal to provide effective transportation networks. Starting on July 28, Range Road 63 will have the following closures:

  • 7:00 a.m. on July 28 to 7:00 a.m. on July 29: Highway 43 to Township Road 724

  • 7:00 a.m. on July 29 to 7:00 a.m. on July 30: Township Road 723 (Bauman Road) to Township Road 730

During the full closures, access will be granted to residents and business employees located along the affected route. The route will be closed to all other traffic.

Additionally, the Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management, located along this route, will be closed from 8:00 a.m. on July 29 to 8:00 a.m. on July 30

Once the full closures tentatively end on July 30, Range Road 63, from Highway 43 to Highway 672 (Emerson Trail), will remain under construction with single lane alternating traffic and flagging personnel in place for approximately three weeks, weather dependent.

To support traffic safety and minimize disruptions, road signage will be posted in advance of the closures and live message boards will be placed at key intersections. Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage, obey flagging personnel, and use alternate routes. The County appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews work to improve local roads and infrastructure.
