Update #2: Evacuation alert remains in effect for County residents affected by Kiskatinaw River Wildfire
Sunday, June 29, 2025, 4:00 p.m. – The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for everyone located north of Township Road 714 to Township Road 734, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 131 due to wildfire. This evacuation alert is based on recommendations from BC Wildfire, the primary agency in command of working to contain the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire.
Residents must prepare themselves and their livestock for a possible evacuation. If a mandatory evacuation order is issued, residents will have 30 minutes to evacuate.
Residents should fuel vehicles and gather pets, important documents, medications, medical devices, and enough food and water to be away from your home for at least 7 days.
Alberta Wildfire reports that the wildfire is estimated at 26,315 hectares and is located near the Alberta–British Columbia border.
BC Wildfire is expecting warm and dry conditions, which may lead to increased fire behaviour. While no significant growth is anticipated, there is potential for unburned fuels within the fire perimeter to continue to burn, producing visible smoke.
Crews remain focused on containment, with heavy equipment and aircraft available to respond if fire activity increases.
Alberta Wildfire is supporting BC Wildfire efforts as needed. The incident management team is also working closely with the County of Grande Prairie and the Peace River Regional District to ensure a coordinated regional response.
