Update #32: Favourable Conditions Help Crews, Alert Remains in Place

Sunday, June 15, 2025, 11:45 a.m. –  Favourable conditions have supported strong progress on the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire; however, the fire continues to pose a potential risk to residents in the area.

An evacuation alert remains in place for everyone north of Township Road 710 to 740, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 132.

The wildfire is still being classified as out of control. County Regional Fire Service crews will continue to monitor the area. Ongoing smoke may be visible. Residents should call 911 if they see any open flame.

fire ban remains in effect for the entire County of Grande Prairie. Residents are urged to adhere to the fire ban which was issued due to dry conditions and recent wildfire activity in the region.

Weather and Fire Behaviour

Today’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds, with moderate to high humidity. Fire behaviour is expected to remain low and similar to yesterday. As temperatures rise, scattered thunderstorms may develop.

Operations Update

Crews continue to conduct suppression operations, supported by recent rainfall. High-level scanning is being used to detect hotspots, and heavy machinery is working to build containment guards directly along the fire’s edge towards the south and along Highway 52 moving east towards the Alberta border.
