Update #5: No significant overnight growth of wildfire southwest of Kelly Lake; Evacuation Alert remains in effect
Friday, May 30, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – There was no significant overnight growth of the out-of-control wildfire burning approximately 7.5 kilometres from the BC/Alberta border. The Evacuation Alert will remain in place.
Thursday, May 29, 2025, 9:15 p.m. – The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for everyone located north of Township Road 720 to Township Road 732, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 130.
No evacuation is required at this time. If an Evacuation Order is issued, residents will have 30 minutes to evacuate.
Thursday, May 29, 2025, 4:20 p.m. – The County of Grande Prairie has issued an Evacuation Alert for everyone located north of Township Road 720 to Township Road 732, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 130.
The fire is approximately 7 kilometres from the Alberta border.
Thursday, May 29, 2025, 3:15 p.m. – The County of Grande Prairie and Alberta Wildfire are closely monitoring wildfire G70422 located near Kelly Lake, British Columbia (BC), about 15 kilometers west of the Alberta border. If conditions do not improve, an evacuation alert may be required for County residents located close to the BC/Alberta border.
County Regional Fire Service and Alberta Wildfire continue to monitor Wildfire G70422 near Kelly Lake, British Columbia. Smoke is still visible. The wildfire is approximately 15 kilometres west of the Alberta border. There is currently no threat to structures within the County of Grande Prairie.
Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 10:50 p.m.: The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service would like to advise the public that visible smoke is due to a fire burning in British Columbia, approximately 18 kilometres west of the Alberta border. There is no threat to County residents. County crews and Alberta Forestry are aware of the fire and are monitoring the situation.
Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 5:15 p.m.: The wildfire in Catherine Estates at 720075 Range Road 95, west of Saskatoon Mountain, is now under control. County Regional Fire Service crews remain on site to monitor and extinguish any hot spots. Alberta Wildfire crews have left the scene.
The public is asked to avoid the area. Thank you for your cooperation. This is the final update.
