Shaping the Year Ahead: 2026 Organizational Meeting — County of Grande Prairie Council acclaimed Division 1 Councillor Amanda McDonald as Reeve and Division 9 Councillor Bob Chrenek as Deputy Reeve at today’s organizational meeting. Prior to conducting the election of Reeve and Deputy Reeve, Administration reviewed the secret ballot voting procedure, which was confirmed by Council resolution. Following the acclamation, both the Reeve and Deputy Reeve took the Oath of Office.  

Board and Committees Appointments — Councillors were appointed to serve as members on various boards and committees. Council directed Administration to re-advertise any vacancies for public members. An updated list of board and committee members will be available this week on the County website.  

Council Governance — Council directed Administration to defer the Code of Conduct discussion to a future Council meeting pending updated information from the Province of Alberta.  

Administration proposed amendments to Bylaw #3239 – Procedural Bylaw, and Council gave third and final reading to the bylaw.  

Council directed Administration to amend Policy F10 – Council and Board Member Honoraria and Expense Reimbursement to include a member of the Grande Spirit Foundation and the Hythe Pioneer Home Committees as attendees at the Alberta Seniors and Community Housing Association Conference to ensure representation. 

Council reviewed and accepted the following policies for information:

• Policy F11 – Council Decision Making Framework.
• Policy F12 – Council and Administration Communication Framework. 

2027 Additional Conferences, Meetings and Conventions — Council approved Councillors to attend the 2027 additional conferences, meetings and conventions as presented. 

2026-2027 Council, Budget and Committee of the Whole Meeting Calendar — Council approved the 2026-2027 schedule of Regular Council, Budget Council, and Committee of the Whole Meetings as presented. 

The next Regular Council Meeting will take place on October 20, 2026. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting will take place on November 20, 2026.
