    Sunday, June 29, 2025, 4:00 p.m. – The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for everyone located north of Township Road 714 to Township Road 734, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 131 due to wildfire. This evacuation alert is based on recommendations from BC Wildfire, the primary agency in command of working to contain the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire.

    County Downgrades Fire Restriction to Fire Advisory

    Effective at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will downgrade the Fire Restriction to a Fire Advisory for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

    Update #36: Kiskatinaw Wildfire Now Being Held; Evacuation Alert Cancelled

    Thursday, June 19, 2025, 3:20 p.m. –   Fire activity on the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire has continued to decrease, and the wildfire is now classified as Being Held, meaning it is not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries. As a result, the evacuation alert issued for residents north of Township Road 710 to 740, east of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 132 has been cancelled.

    Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 2:30 p.m.–  Firefighting efforts continue to progress steadily on the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire, aided by recent rainfall and cooler conditions. While the wildfire remains classified as out of control, suppression efforts have now expanded into Alberta, with crews actively working along the southern perimeter.

    County Hosts Free FireSmart™ Wood Chipping Events to Help Reduce Wildfire Risk 

    The County of Grande Prairie is hosting two free FireSmart™ Wood Chipping events to support ongoing wildfire prevention efforts as part of the updated 2025 Wildfire Mitigation Strategy. These events help reduce fire-prone materials, such as trees, branches, brush, and deadfall, on private properties, particularly in high-risk subdivisions, and contribute to the County’s broader goals of risk reduction and community protection.

    Tuesday, June 17, 2025, 3:00 p.m.–   Continued progress is being made on the Kiskatinaw River Wildfire, thanks to continued cooler weather and precipitation in the forecast. Despite these favourable conditions, the wildfire remains out of control and continues to pose a potential risk to nearby areas.
