  • County Seeking Election Workers for the 2025 Municipal Election

    The County of Grande Prairie is seeking election workers for the 2025 Municipal Election this fall. 

    The election will take place on October 20, 2025, and the County is looking for workers to work during advance vote days and on Election Day. Election workers are responsible to support polling station operations, including opening and closing stations, supporting voters with voting instructions and identification verification, and ensuring the secrecy of the vote.

    Effective at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will downgrade the Fire Ban with a Fire Restriction for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

    With the possibility of another postal strike occurring as early as May 22, the County of Grande Prairie conducted an early mail-out of 2025 property tax and assessment notices and offers easy online payment options and extended hours on June 26, 27 and 30 to accommodate in-person payments.

    May 5, 2025

    Provincial Grant Application for FireSmart Coordinator — Council directed Administration to apply for the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) grant for $200,000 to support a regional FireSmart Coordinator position for a two-year term in partnership with regional municipalities. The County will contribute up to $22,500 this year, $55,000 in 2026, and $22,500 in 2027. Council directed Administration to bring back an evaluation of the position at the end of the term if it is approved.

    County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Issues Fire Ban  

    Effective at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will be issuing a Fire Ban for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley. The Fire Ban replaces the former Fire Restriction issued on April 30.
