Family and Community Support Services

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is a partnership with the province of Alberta. We offer programs and services that contribute to the well-being of our residents, their families, and communities. 

Community Compass Program – Ties together hundreds of independent social services and programs into a coordinated system to streamline access and help residents navigate community support across the region. The program is a partnership with the Community Foundation of Northern Alberta and the City of Grande Prairie.

Community Programs – Community based programming for all ages.

Community School Liaison Program – Provides information and support to families and students who are having trouble at home or at school.

Early Childhood Development – Parent and Tot programs for caregivers and children 0 - 6 and Playschool programs for three and four year olds.

Grant Program – FCSS supports local preventive social services through direct programming and the provision of financial assistance through the grant program.

Transportation Grants – County Council provides Seniors and Accessible Transportation Operation Assistance grants, in consultation with the FCSS Advisory Board. 

Home Support Program – Provides in-home support to families and individuals experiencing disruptions to their normal family routine.

It Takes a Volunteer – Recognizes and highlights the commitment of volunteers throughout the County who have donated their time, skills, and knowledge to benefit our residents and communities.

Senior and Special Needs Snow Removal – The County provides free snowplowing of private driveways for County residents aged 65 years and older and special needs individuals living in rural areas.   

Seniors Walk and Talk – Keep fit and stay connected. No charge to walk and enjoy a coffee on us.

Summer Youth Programming – Fun interactive programs for youth ages 6 - 12 years old during July and August.

Special Project Funding

Limited funding is available to sponsor preventive social programs with the goal of improving resident's well being.
