
The goal of the County of Grande Prairie Early Childhood Development Programs is to provide play-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment in which each child has the opportunity to develop to their potential socially, emotionally, physically, creatively and intellectually.
Playschool Programs
Applications for the 2025-2026 year is now open. Registration opens on March 1, 2025.

County of Grande Prairie Playschool programs are child-centered and focus on delivering developmentally appropriate programming for three and four-year-old’s. Children can start the program the month they turn three and must be potty trained.
Our Early Childhood Development staff are licensed to plan and deliver programs based on the needs, interests, and developmental stage of the children.
Valhalla Playschool Update September 9, 2025: We have reached our maximum capacity. Applications submitted on or after September 9, 2025 will be placed on a waitlist. Families on the waitlist will be contacted if and when a spot becomes available.

Parent and Tot Programs
For children 0-6 years old and their parents/ caregivers. A drop-in style program where parents actively engage with their child in a fun, social environment that combines opportunities for free play, information sharing and structured play activities. Provided at no charge through FCSS funding.
