We host year-round programs and events that focus on outdoor recreation and the environment. We want to help you be healthy, happy, and connected with nature.
We offer:
- Recreation Fee Assistance to ensure all residents have access to recreation opportunities.
- Recreation and Culture grants to help community organizations.
- Programs for families, youth, and adults.
Programs and Events
Alberta Conservation and Hunter Education Course - Cancelled
Please note: The Alberta Conservation and Hunter Education Course scheduled for August 24-26, 2026 has been cancelled due to low registration.
The County of Grande Prairie is planning to offer the course again at a later date. Tentatively, the course is expected to be rescheduled for December 28-30, 2026, pending confirmation.
Participants who registered for the August course will be contacted regarding refunds.

Alberta Day Celebration
Date: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Location: Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum
Cost: Free
Join the County of Grande Prairie for a free Alberta Day celebration at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.
Enjoy free museum admission, Bonebed Tours, a community BBQ from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (while supplies last), mini golf, face painting, arts and crafts, and other family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon.
Bring your family and friends as we celebrate Alberta's culture, heritage, and community spirit in a fun and welcoming community setting.
