Basements

Finishing your basement can add value and usable square footage to your home, but you will need to get a permit before you take on the work. Here's what you need to submit to the Planning Department:

• Completed Residential Building Permit Application
• Blueprints or diagram of the plan including window sizing for egress
• Application fee as set out in the fees and charges schedule

Depending on the type of development, you may need additional permits:

• Electrical permit for installation of lights and electrical outlets
• Plumbing permit for bathroom
• Private Sewage permit if your plan includes additional bedrooms
