County Campgrounds are now open for the season. Summer DAY-USE hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from May 15, 2024 through October 15, 2024.

Located south of Wembley on the banks of the Wapiti River. Overnight camping, group camping and day use are all available. There is NO CELL SERVICE in the park.

99 sites and 2 group areas. Loops A, D and E as well as Group Area 1 have 30-amp service. RV sanitary dump station is located at the park entrance. Non-potable water taps are available.

The park is located near one of the richest areas for fossil finds in western Canada and the largest site in the world for Pachyrhinosaurus fossils. Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Wembley exists because of this rich bone bed.

Amenities include a group day-use shelter, non-potable water tap, indoor shower and washrooms, outdoor restrooms, 2 playgrounds, ball diamond and 7 km of recently expanded hiking trailsPlease note the trail to the bone bed is closed until further notice.

A $7 nightly fire permit fee will be in place at all County campgrounds to supplement the costs of firewood handling and firepit safety maintenance.

Boat access to the Wapiti River is through the Campground.

$29 / night individual un-serviced campsite (one hard-sided camping unit, one tent and one vehicle) plus $7 fire permit fee / night. $10 online reservation fee / booking.

$39 / night individual powered campsite (one hard-sided camping unit, one tent and one vehicle) plus $7 fire permit fee / night. $10 online reservation fee / booking.

$420 / night Group Site #1 (w $40 daily fire permit included) includes 10 powered sites, group cook shelter, outdoor restrooms, firepit, small playground, non-potable water tap. $10 online reservation fee / booking.

$165 / night Group Site #2 (w $25 daily fire permit included) includes 5 un-serviced sites, firepit, picnic tables. Each additional unit is $28 / night and $7 fire permit fee, to a maximum of 10 units. $10 online reservation fee / booking.

$130 / half-day private Group Day Use Area includes gazebo, firepit, picnic tables. $10 online reservation fee / booking.

Only Visa or Mastercard are accepted. No cash, debit, cheques or American Express.

Check in time is 4:00 PM. Check out time is 2:00 PM.

Review the Event and Group Use Directive if you are considering hosting a special event.

  • Reservations are only accepted using the online reservation tool.
  • Preview the available sites using the map
  • Select and reserve a site based on your needs and preferences
  • Pay fees online via Visa or Mastercard
  • If you have a reservation you may proceed straight to your assigned campsite upon arrival
  • You can edit the dates and site selection of your reservation in your CampLife guest profile.
  • To extend a reservation once on site, use the self-reservation kiosk. The same campsite may not be available for the extension, and you may need to change sites.
  • Reservations are non-transferrable.
  • Occupants of multiple sites booked under one name will be asked to complete a paper registration to identify the persons staying at each site.
  • Park Hosts can assist with general inquiries but cannot take reservations by phone or email.

Selecting a Campsite without a Reservation

  • Drop-in campers or persons without internet access can use the self-reservation kiosk in the Pipestone parking lot
  • All sites must be allocated through the reservation system. Guests are not permitted to drive through the campground and select a site, then pay.
  • Payment can only be made using Visa or Mastercard.
  • After payment is made at the kiosk, proceed to your campsite.

From Wembley: Drive south on RR 82 for 11 Km. Park entrance is on the west side of the Range Road.

Cancellation Policy

  • To cancel online reservations, log back into the software and use the self-cancel function.
How to Self-Cancel your Reservation
  1. Go to the Camp Life reservation website.

  5. Find the Reservation that you want to cancel

  7. Select a reason why you are cancelling the reservation:

  8. Click on the yellow Confirm Cancellation button

  9. Your reservation has now been cancelled. Your credit card will be refunded within ten business days.

  • A $5 cancellation fee applies. The $10 reservation fee is non-refundable.
  • Camping fee refunds are determined by the notice provided:
    • If three days (72 hours) or more before 2:00 pm on the scheduled day of arrival, all camping fees are refunded.
    • If two days (48 hours) or more before 2:00 pm on the scheduled day of arrival, one night's camping fee is forfeited.
    • If less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours' notice before 2:00 pm on the scheduled day of arrival, two nights' camping fees are forfeited.
    • If less than 24 hours' notice, no refund available.
  • There is no additional cancellation fee or penalty
  • Camping fee refunds must be applied to the card used for the original transaction and will be processed within five business days 
  • Refunds are not provided outside of the above notification criteria for advisories including inclement weather, ground/site conditions, water quality, air quality, wild animals, insects/pests, fire bans, liquor bans, car trouble, getting lost or evictions

Regulations and Etiquette

While visiting our parks this season, please remember:

  • Be considerate of others.
  • Avoid excessive and offensive noise at any time of day: Talking or singing loudly, stereos at high volume and any other noisy behaviour is not permitted.
  • Quiet hours for group camping are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. This means all stereos and generators must be turned off, and noise must be kept to a minimum.
  • Keep campfires small and under control. Make sure your fire is extinguished before you leave. Soak it with water once, and then again, making sure to stir through the ashes. Do not burn any garbage in the fire pits. It is an offence to leave a fire unattended or burning (even smouldering) after vacating your site.

  • Under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, individuals can possess, use and consume cannabis in a temporary residence; this includes places like a parked motor home or camper, a set up tent, and within your rented campsite.
  • Alcohol may be consumed in a temporary residence such as a parked motor home or camper, a set up tent and within your rented campsite. Alcohol may not be consumed in day use areas.
  • Under the County's Community Standards Bylaw, behaviours that bother or disturb others are illegal; This includes offensive odours like composting, firepit spoke, cannabis, and animal feces.
